About Abi-mation

​Hello, my name is Abi Whitelegg and I am the creator behind Abi-mation.

I'm a traditional animator who specialises in traditional frame by frame animation and roterscoping in combination with textures and photographical elements to create a unique style. I like experimenting within my work, combining different techniques and styles together and am looking to create unique and interesting films. Using my animation techniques I can create GIFs for web use such as pictures, logos or banners.

I also create still artwork from traditional acrylic and watercolour paintings to anime and manga style illustrations. I like playing around with different concepts and ideas, combining techniques and experimenting with my style in different medias. I can turn my artwork and illustrations into animated GIFs for web use.

I have gained a BA and MA in Animation from the University of Derby and am currently taking commissions for any animation or illustration work. I also have an Etsy store where I sell original Christmas card designs based on my cat Muffin whom always causes trouble at home.

I have many inspirations for my styles of work from traditional paintings such as Monet and Sisley to cartoons like Simon's Cat and Garfield to eastern anime and manga styles. Some of my favourite animated films include The Tale of Princess Kaguya and Spirited Away from Studio Ghibli, , Toy Story and Inside Out from Pixar, Tangled and Treasure Planet from Disney, The Garden of Words and Your Name by Makoto Shinkai and Hotarubi no Mori e by Makoto Yoshimori.
